Guidance notes for applicants
These notes will help you to understand our application process and will provide you with sufficient information to be able to complete the application to become a Self-Employed Member.
AI Screening
Viewber uses AI tools to review applications in a timely manner. If you believe AI processing could potentially disadvantage you for a specific reason (for example, but not limited to, a disability that may affect how your application is interpreted), please do not complete the form on our website, and instead email applications@viewber.co.uk to request manual screening, including a brief explanation for the requirement (which will be treated confidentially). Please note that manual processing may take up to 10 working days. For more information about how we handle your data, please see our Privacy Notice.
Time Frame
Self-Employed Viewber Members have 60 days to complete their application. If all the Steps are not completed within this timeframe your application will be deleted. We will endeavour to send reminders to you during the 60-day period, but this cannot be guaranteed.
Suitability
Anyone can apply to become a Self-Employed Member, however, not everyone will be suitable. To help you decide whether Membership is suitable for you, please look at the following statements. If you can answer Yes to any of the statements, we strongly advise you not to continue with the application process:
- I am looking to work a set number of hours per week as a Member
- I am looking to earn a set amount of money each month as a Member
- I am uncomfortable working alone and meeting new people for the first time
- I am looking for an employed role
- I am uncomfortable using technology
- I am under the age of 18
- I hold a Student Visa
- I cannot provide evidence of a valid UK or Irish passport, an Irish passport card, or a Home Office share code
Conduct
If during the application process, you are found to be in any way discriminatory, rude, aggressive, pressured and/or dismissive to any member of the Viewber HQ Team your application will be declined immediately without warning.
Support
The application process has been designed to be as simple as possible. Given this and taking into consideration that all Self-Employed Members are required to have good technology awareness (as our systems and processes are based around technology), we are unable to provide support with the completion of Steps.
Declined Applications
Due to the nature of the application process and the number of applications received, we are unable to provide individual feedback if an application is declined. However, if you did not opt out of AI screening and feel the technology may have made a mistake during the selection process, this can be appealed within 21 days of your application form being submitted.
Reapplying for Membership
Unsuccessful applicants are not encouraged to reapply to become a Self-Employed Member. If an unsuccessful applicant chooses to reapply, they must wait a period of at least 12 months.
If you were previously a Self-Employed Member and had your Membership terminated by our Team, you are not eligible to reapply, and your application will be declined.
General Notes
Previous property related experience does not outweigh the requirements to follow the processes set out within our application process – all applications are treated and dealt with in the same manner.
Complaints
In the unfortunate event that you feel that you have been treated unfairly during the application process, please email applications1@viewber.co.uk with full details of your grievance. A member of the Team will respond within 14 working days.
APPLICATION STEPS
Step 1
This initial stage of the application process involves completing the online Application Form available on our website. This step will be used to decide whether you will be shortlisted and invited to progress to Step 2. It is essential that you complete the Application Form accurately, free from spelling and grammatical errors and include all the information asked for.
Due to the requirement for Self-Employed Viewber Members to provide important written feedback to third parties after each appointment, Application Forms containing spelling or grammatical errors will lead to the application being declined.
To efficiently process the large number of applications we receive, we use AI technology to assist in screening forms at this stage. This minimises processing time and ensures a consistent review of applications. However, if you prefer, you can opt out of AI screening if you have a reason for doing so (for example, but not limited to, a disability that would hinder your AI-filtered membership application), this should be mentioned in your application and, you can request a manual review by a team member. Please note that manual reviews will take up to 10 working days to complete.
First and Last Names
Please ensure that you provide your full legal name. This is important as in Step 3 you will be asked to provide proof of name documentation; if the name used on your application does not match your proof of name documentation this will lead to your application being declined.
Please explain why you are applying to become a Self-Employed Member
Please answer this question thoroughly, as it is important for us to understand your motivations for applying for Self-Employed Membership. Short answers will lead to your application being declined.
Please explain the experience, or skills, you have which would help you to be successful in a role as a Self-Employed Member
Again, please answer this question thoroughly so we can understand the experience and transferable skills you possess, that would enable you to become a successful Self-Employed Member. Please note, overly short answers will lead to your application being declined.
Please confirm whether you are currently involved in advising, or selling, or letting property on a professional basis. If you are involved in any of these areas, please provide full details
Please answer this question honestly to clarify if you are currently professionally involved in the property market and if so, give full details and any relevant website links, if applicable. As previously stated, no prior experience within the property industry is required so an answer of “Not Applicable” will be accepted if this is the case.
Please confirm below, by writing “I AGREE AND UNDERSTAND” that you are aware that this is a lone working, self-employed position with no guarantee of appointments being offered to you on a daily, weekly, monthly or annual basis
If you agree and understand, please make sure that you type your answer using capital letters as shown within the question.
If you have not heard back after 10 working days of submitting your completed registration form, please take that as confirmation your application has unfortunately been unsuccessful. Please note all application decisions are final and due to the number of applications we receive, we are unable to provide individual feedback if an application is declined.
Reasons why an application will be declined at registration stage are as follows:
- Your response did not answer the question/s asked, did not make sense or did not flow correctly.
- There were spelling and/or grammatical errors in the answers you provided.
- The answer/s provided were too short or showed little effort.
- The answer/s provided indicate you are looking for a set amount of hours/ money.
- The answer/s provided indicate you are under 18 or that you hold a student visa which prohibits you from working in a self-employed role.
- The answer/s provided were discriminatory, rude, aggressive, pressured and/or dismissive.
- You have previously been a Member and had your Membership terminated by our Team.
Step 2
Once you have successfully completed Step 1 of the application process you will be invited to complete Step 2. This involves the completion of three online quizzes and a one-way video interview. It is essential that you complete all three quizzes before completing the one-way video interview.
When completing the one-way video interview, make sure to film in a quiet, undisturbed space. Please also be mindful of your attire and present yourself in the same way you would on an appointment with Viewber, should your application be successful. Completing an interview fully or partially nude, wearing sportswear, beachwear or lingerie/nightwear (which includes dressing gowns or having your hair in a bath towel) will result in your application being declined.
Please be aware that providing short answers and/or responses within the one-way video interview which do not provide a satisfactory/expected response will result in your application being declined. Likewise, failure to look at the camera, incoherent/mumbled answers and/or appearing to mock the questions/process will result in your application being declined.
We understand that technology, including generative AI tools, can be helpful for general research or preparation. However, please be aware that if it becomes apparent during your video interview that AI has been used to generate or deliver your answers, this may result in your application being declined. The interview is designed to assess your personal aptitude, judgement, and communication style. We strongly recommend answering questions in your own words and drawing on your own experience and thinking, rather than relying on generic AI-generated responses
Step 3
If your application is approved, you will be requested to complete an Onboarding Form via the software platform JotForm. Ideally, this form should be completed on a computer rather than a mobile device, to ensure you can easily move between tabs. As previously mentioned within this documentation, we cannot provide support with how to utilise the JotForm to upload or sign documents, click links and/or tick boxes etc.
The Onboarding Form will provide you with clear guidelines as to the documentation/ photographs we will accept. Please make sure to read all instructions carefully and follow the requirements listed before uploading any files and submitting the form. For the avoidance of doubt, we will not accept any other form of documentation than that stated. If you are unable to provide the documentation required, this will unfortunately lead to your application being declined.
As part of this form, you will be required to provide a valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), AccessNI, or Disclosure Scotland certificate. Please review our Statement of Approach on Unspent Convictions to understand how we assess applications from individuals with unspent convictions.
Once the form is successfully completed, you will receive a separate email within 10 working days containing a link to complete a digital Right to Work check via TrustID. For this check, you will need either a valid UK or Irish passport, an Irish passport card, or a Home Office share code.
Failure to complete the Onboarding Form, or TrustID check, to a satisfactory standard, e.g., not completing all application sections, not following the instructions and requirements provided, or being unable to meet the verification criteria, will lead to your application being declined.
