Guidance notes for applicants

Application Guidance Notes – Professional Photographer & 360 Tour Member

These notes will help you to understand our application process and will provide you with sufficient information to be able to complete the application to become a Self-Employed Professional Photographer & 360 Tour Member.

Time Frame
Everyone applying to become a Self-Employed Professional Photographer & 360 Tour Member has 16 weeks to complete their application. If all the Steps are not completed within this timeframe your application will be deactivated. We will endeavour to send reminders to you during this period, but this cannot be guaranteed.

Suitability
Anyone can apply to become a Self-Employed Professional Photographer & 360 Tour Member; however, not everyone will be suitable. To help you to decide whether it is suitable for you, please look at the following statements. If any of these apply to you, we strongly recommend that you do not continue with your application.

  • I do not have the equipment or experience to take Professional Photography and 360-degree tours. (Professional Photography requires a full-frame camera with a minimum 17mm lens or equivalent. 360-degree tours require a dedicated 360 camera such as the Ricoh Theta Z1 or an Insta360 model capable of high-resolution virtual tours.)
  • I am looking to work a set number of hours per week as a Professional Photographer & 360 Tour Member.
  • I am looking to earn a set amount of money each month as a Professional Photographer & 360 Tour Member.
  • I am uncomfortable working alone and meeting new people for the first time
  • I am looking for an employed role
  • I am uncomfortable using technology
  • I am under the age of 18
  • I hold a Student Visa
  • I do not hold/ am unable to obtain relevant insurance (public liability insurance with a minimum cover of £1,000,000 and professional indemnity insurance with a minimum cover of £50,000)
  • I cannot provide evidence of a valid UK or Irish passport, an Irish passport card, or a Home Office share code

Conduct
If during the application process you are found to be in any way discriminatory, rude, aggressive, pressured and/or dismissive to any member of the Viewber HQ Team your application will be declined immediately without warning.

Support
The application process has been designed to be as simple as possible. Given this and taking into consideration that all Self-Employed Professional Photography & 360 Tour Members are required to have good technology awareness (as our systems and processes are based around technology), we are unable to provide support with the completion of Steps.

Declined Applications
Should your application be declined, please remember that photography is subjective, and what we are looking for may just not be the right fit for the style you offer.

Reapplying for Membership
You are more than welcome to reapply as a Professional Photographer & 360 Tour Member after 12 months should you wish to. Alternatively, you can apply straight away to be a general Viewber Member, should you not have already been declined in this capacity in the last 12 months.

If you were previously a Self-Employed Member and had your Membership terminated or discontinued by our Team, you are not eligible to reapply, and your application will be declined.

General Notes
Previous experience does not outweigh the requirements to follow the processes set out within our application process – all applications are treated and dealt with in the same manner.

Queries
If you have any queries during the application process, please feel free to contact us at applications@viewber.co.uk

Complaints
In the unfortunate event that you feel that you have been treated unfairly during the application process, please email applications1@viewber.co.uk with full details of your grievance. A member of the Team will respond within 14 working days.

APPLICATION STEPS

Step 1
This initial stage of the application process involves completing a short online Application Form available on our website. Please make sure the information you input is accurate and that all tick boxes are read and understood prior to being confirmed.

Step 2
This involves providing submissions of your work via the Viewber Dashboard to demonstrate your suitability for the role. We’re looking for Professional Photography to be taken using a full-frame camera (with a minimum 17mm lens or equivalent), showing the external and internal of a residential property and covering the following criteria:

  • Exterior photography should show the full property, including the roof and chimney (if applicable), with the sky above and ground below to frame it.
  • Exterior photographs should show the property head-on, where possible.
  • Where possible, exterior photography should show both the front & back of the property.
  • Photos should be in focus and taken in landscape orientation.
  • Photos should be taken in daylight with any blinds/ curtains opened, ensuring there is adequate lighting via internal lights or a flash gun.
  • Internal photos should be taken from the very corner of the room, making sure to show the full scope of the room and capture its positive features.
  • Photos should be taken at the same height, around 120cm-150cm.
  • Rooms should be dressed for the photo e.g. clutter should be moved out of view, bins moved out of shot and pillows plumped etc.
  • Photos should not include people or pets.
  • Distractions should be removed from shot (e.g. televisions should be switched off)

We will also provide you with access to the Made Snappy and Immoviewer platforms to submit a test 360-degree tour to demonstrate your capability with their software. Full information and login details will be provided, and we’re looking for the tour to cover the following criteria:

  • Exterior and interior 360-degree shots, with all hotspots placed correctly to navigate through the tour.
  • The tour should start at the front exterior of the property.
  • Where possible, exterior photography should show both the front & back of the property.
  • All images should be clear and in focus.
  • Photos should be taken in daylight with any blinds/ curtains opened, ensuring there is adequate lighting.
  • Internal photos should be taken from the center of the room, or central section of the room, making sure no parts of the room are out of view.
  • Photos should be taken at the same height, around 120cm-150cm (evidenced by two photos when using the Made Snappy platform).
  • Photos should not include people or pets.
  • Distractions should be removed from the shot (e.g. televisions should be switched off)
  • When using Made Snappy software, the compass direction should be set, and you should also upload 6 of your 2D photos of the property to the platform.

Step 3
If your application is approved, you will be requested to complete an Onboarding Form via the software platform JotForm. Ideally, this form should be completed on a computer rather than a mobile device, to ensure you can easily move between tabs. As previously mentioned within this documentation, we cannot provide support with how to utilise the JotForm to upload or sign documents, click links and/or tick boxes, etc.

The Onboarding Form will provide you with clear guidelines as to the documentation/ photographs we will accept. Please make sure to read all instructions carefully and follow the requirements listed before uploading any files and submitting the form. For the avoidance of doubt, we will not accept any other form of documentation than that stated. If you are unable to provide the documentation required, this will unfortunately lead to your application being declined.

As part of this form, you will be required to provide a valid Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), AccessNI, or Disclosure Scotland certificate. Please review our Statement of Approach on Unspent Convictions to understand how we assess applications from individuals with unspent convictions.

Once the form is successfully completed, you will receive a separate email within 10 working days containing a link to complete a digital Right to Work check via TrustID. For this check, you will need either a valid UK or Irish passport, an Irish passport card, or a Home Office share code.

Failure to complete the Onboarding Form, or TrustID check, to a satisfactory standard, e.g., not completing all application sections, not following the instructions and requirements provided, or being unable to meet the verification criteria, will lead to your application being declined.
