Hi, my name is Steve and I live in Cheltenham, a beautiful Georgian spa town in the Cotswolds.
I started as a Viewber in September 2020, about 6 months into the pandemic, so the early months were fairly quiet. Things have picked up during 2021 and I have recently completed my 150th appointment! I tend to accept about 5 appointments a week as that number fits in really well around all my other activities.
I’m a retired HR Manager and I have no real property experience, other than being a home owner for 40+ years, and some 11 years as a Buy to Let investor/landlord. The area I cover is mainly around Cheltenham, Gloucester and Stroud.
I love the variety of appointments I get through Viewber. My favourite appointments are residential auction lots, which are real “fixer uppers”. It’s so interesting chatting to the viewers to find out their plans, their dreams even. The variety I’ve handled is huge with guide prices to-date ranging from £50,000 to £1,200,000!
For me the ‘zero hours’, self-employed Viewber arrangements are perfect as I can fit jobs around my twice-weekly golf games and my regular duties as a Betting Assistant at the Cheltenham races. I’m also registered with several casting agencies for work as an Extra, or Supporting Artiste as we are officially called. I’ve only had one shoot so far, but I’m optimistic, as work opportunities grow as we exit the pandemic, hopefully.
The main tip I would give to new Viewbers is to read the appointment instructions carefully, so you are fully aware of the client’s requirements, and then plan your visit.
If you are considering becoming a Viewber, give it a go, it certainly suits me. Bring on my next 150 appointments!
