Work & wellbeing: we help address the imbalance

Work, as we know it. Home, as we know it. Health, as we know it. These have all changed in the last 18 months, and it has got us questioning… what next?
Here are two big questions:
– Do you work to live or live to work?
– Do you work hard and play hard, or do you just work?
If we asked you these questions in 2019, your answers may be very different to what your replies would be today.
The pandemic has turned our goals, aims and lifestyles on their head. More value than ever before is placed on wellbeing, mental health and our work-life balance, leaving workers questioning what they do, where they do it and how frequently it happens.
Even pre-Covid, the idea that our equilibriums were out of kilter was creeping into the mainstream. You may have dabbled with mindfulness or toyed with the idea of a shorter working week – perhaps even early retirement – but we can guess these ideas disappeared under a deluge of tasks or slipped off the ‘to do’ list.
Now, in 2021, we are reassessing how we live and work. Flexibility is the new nirvana and here at Viewber, we believe the key to wellbeing and positive mental health is being able to work in a way that suits an individual’s schedule, while still providing a fulfilling career and affording the lifestyle we would like to lead.
Take us here at Viewber HQ. We have operated in a decentralized way since our creation, with our founder Ed Mead having 100% confidence in the work from home ethos – you only have to chart our growth to see how successful our set up as been.
As well as Viewber’s operations team enjoying flexibility, we are building a business model that gives both property professionals and individuals the ability to free time for what matters most – family and friends, hobbies and holidays.
For property professionals
There is no escaping the fact we are in the midst of an employment crisis. News that the hospitality industry is offering cash incentives to coax employees back to work from furlough is a point in case, highlighting how dissatisfied people are with their careers. More specifically in the property industry, there is a shortage of skilled staff. This is leaving those already on the front line under increasing amounts of pressure, perhaps even buckling under workloads.
Our Viewbers can step in and take up some of the slack. For example, why push staff to work unsociable hours when you can book a Viewber to accompany weekend, evening and Bank Holiday viewings? Viewbers can also complete full suites of marketing assets, including property reports, photographs, 360-degree tours with floorplans and virtual tours, saving agents and auctioneers the stress of travelling to and from properties – potentially getting stuck in traffic and driving around finding somewhere to park in the process.
For dissatisfied employees
When you become a Viewber member, you become your own boss. Our self-employed terms and flexible online booking system allows Viewber members to choose when they work, how much they take on and how far they travel. Retirees, freelancers, parents of young children, people who only have weekends free and those simply wishing to fit work around family commitments – these people join Viewber as it offers the ultimate flexible working patterns.
Viewber doesn’t even have to be someone’s main source of income – it’s a great side hustle with no minimum commitment. Take on bookings that you can fit around another job, plug gaps in your diary with Viewber assignments or take a break when life gets too hectic. Dip in and out when it suits you.
Property provided this Viewber with a Covid escape
Why not listen to Iain – one of our Viewbers from Gloucester – in conversation with Ed? During this podcast, Iain explains how being a Viewber helped with mental health clarity during Covid, when everything work-wise, bar Viewber, dropped away.
Iain is an actor but supplements his income by working in the leisure industry, painting and decorating, and providing support to small businesses. Inevitably, his workflow suffered during the pandemic but he found his Viewber assignments were not only a good way to fill the calendar but they also provided him with an escape.
“During Covid, I was left with just Viewber and it was brilliant. Not only could I help home-school my children and support my wife, I was also able to get out and about. The journey to and from Viewber assignments gave me valuable headspace,” comments Iain.
“I look forward to receiving Viewber notifications and thinking, ‘what am I going to do today, where am I going to go and is it going to fit in with my calendar’. If the latter applies, it’s a case of ‘yep, let’s do it’.”
